Rwanda has officially launched the Innovate4DigiJobs 2025 challenge, a nationwide call for youth-led solutions that harness digital innovation to tackle unemployment and create sustainable jobs.
The challenge, spearheaded by the International Labour Organization (ILO) in collaboration with the Ministry of ICT and Innovation, the Rwanda ICT Chamber, and the Luxembourg Development Cooperation Agency, targets young innovators with tech-driven ideas to transform local economies.
At the launch, speakers emphasized that empowering youth through innovation is central to Rwanda’s development agenda.
Fatima Sirelkhatim, Project Manager at ILO, noted that the program is built on the belief that “youth are not just beneficiaries they are co-creators of the solutions we need. This challenge is a space where young people can lead, supported by government, private sector, and civil society.”
Rwanda ICT Chamber CEO, Alex Ntare, echoed the importance of investing in innovation for job creation.
“Our digital economy depends on the energy and creativity of youth. We are committed to supporting initiatives that not only inspire, but also employ,” he said.
Representing Luxembourg, Bob Junker underlined the power of collaboration to unlock new opportunities.
“We are proud to support a challenge that empowers Rwandan youth to design the future. What matters most is enabling access to skills, to markets, and to meaningful employment,” he said.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth and Arts, Brave Ngabo, urged young people to rise to the occasion.
“Innovate4DigiJobs is not just a project. It’s a mindset. Rwanda has built the infrastructure now the youth must build the future. Think big, act smart, and use digital tools to create jobs that last,” he said.
The Innovate4DigiJobs 2025 challenge will fund and mentor selected initiatives, with applications now open to individuals and groups across the country.
