From many years cranes had significant In Rwandan Culture, were respected and were taken by some Rwandan family as the sign of peace and prosperity. For some Rwandan they used Lizards also as Ornament in the house.
Historian Rtd Lt Col Gerald Nyirimanzi, explain how cranes were respected in Rwanda Before, he said “ Cranes were respected by Banyiginya, one of the big family in Rwanda. And it was the sign of them so killing a lizard was a big guilt.”
The problem of decreases of Lizards in the county causes environmentalists to wake up and starts to protect them from 2014.

From that year the Rwanda association that protect the animals called Rwanda Wildlife Conservation Association (RWCA) has the objectives of protecting and increasing the number of cranes and other animals that have the problems of decreasing.
Some populations in Rwanda speaking with Umwezi.rw say that they didn’t know what happen in Rwanda so that now they don’t see Cranes like before.
Ahimana Theoneste is the population of Kicukiro District, Kigarama Sector and Kimisange Cell says that before they use to see Lizards in some neighborhoods here In Kigali City bur as the time goes the Lizards disappears.
The Director of RWCA, Olivier Nsengimana, appreciates the Rwandan populations who were Rich Cranes the fact that they gave it.
Says that “some of these Lizards had big problems so we can’t let it go to the jungle because it can die if we let it go to the jungle.

He continue saying that what they can do for some Lizards that are handicapped is to give it medicines and this activity is taken place at Kanombe Art Museum were there are the Doctors for it.
The Cranes in Rwanda now have some problems like swamp farming usually breeds, and its cross-border trade
From now Rwanda Wildlife Conservation Association and RDB starts the activity of collecting these Cranes and protect it.
The direction of this association says that they have received these Lizards, treat them and send then in Akagera National Park.
In the Announcement released by RDB and RWCA hey wan the population, who sell, and that who have it in their home illegally to stop this activity.
RDB work with RWCA and other partners in order stop selling and keeping Cranes in home illegal.
This Announcement says that if there is someone who has Lizard in his/her home to bring it so that it can be sent to the Rwanda wildlife conservation
